Hassian: I suppose you must have read them all as well.
You: I did.
Hassian: Don't worry, I'm not angry. If I had been feeling braver, I might have shown them to you myself.
Hassian: Momma loved me, I know that. But she still left, and all I had were these letters to remember her by.
Hassian: When I was younger I slept with them under my pillow. As if that somehow made up for the hole she left in my life.
You: 
She could still be alive.
Hassian: That would be worse, if she's still out there and just... decided to never come back.
Hassian: Besides, I have made my peace with the way things happened.
