Eshe: You made it. Excellent, perhaps now I will have a good conversation for once.
Eshe: Tell me, {playername}. Are you married?
You: Happily!
Eshe: Then count yourself among the lucky few. In the upper ranks of Palian society, marriage is a contract between families, not individuals.
Eshe: You rarely decide on the basis of happiness, but upon the basis of duty. One should take great pride in doing one's duty.
Eshe: Even when they get the date wrong. Again.
Eshe: (Out of the corner of your eye, you spot Zeki calmly approaching Eshe as you talk. He passes behind her, winks, and disappears into the crowd.)
Eshe: Well. Enough of this maudlin topic. I believe I am due for a refill on my wine. Where did that waiter get to?
You: Unhappily!
Eshe: I see. Happiness has never been a factor in marriages between the upper ranks of Palian society.
Eshe: I made my choice because of my duty to my people. I did what I believed would be best for Bahari.
You: I have someone in mind...
Eshe: Do you? I suppose you must have many suitors. You're quite popular around town.
Eshe: Marriage is a contract not to be entered into lightly. Be sure of yourself before you sign that final line.
You: No.
Eshe: Perhaps that is for the best. I don't know how you do marriage where you're from, but here it is a contract made between families, not individuals.
Eshe: Especially among those in the upper echelons of society. And you do have the bearing of someone with... refined qualities.
