Have you felt that chill in the air? Seen the snow on the ground? That means it's almost my favorite time of year. Winterlights! And this year I get to share it with my favorite human...that's you if it wasn't clear. Winterlights is a tradition where we light candles with those we care about to symbolize hope for a new spring during the darkest time of the year. Throughout the years, it transformed into a fun celebration where we eat food and share stories with the ones we love. At school it was always tough, 'cause I was usually just lighting candles alone. But now I have Hekla! And you! So it's gonna be a lot more fun. I sent you a candle. You can light it and swap stories with someone you care about or even those you want to get to know better. PS - Hekla told me that people used to bring a tree inside and decorate it for a human holiday called Frostide. Seems a little strange to me.... but I thought it might be fun to combine the traditions. So I sent you a tree. Maybe you can get decorations from the people you light candles with? Just a thought. You don't have to do it if it seems stupid...
