As I pen this letter, I fear being pelted in the face with a snowball. That must mean it's almost the most stressful...I mean joyous...time of year. Winterlights! Among my duties to prepare for the festivities as mayor and your Shepp, the foremost among them is to inform you about our traditions. I still can't believe you picked me as your Shepp by the way. A part of me fears it must have been an accident, but anywho.... During Winterlights, we light candles with those we care about to symbolize hope for a new spring during the darkest time of the year. Though personally my favorite part is the food and the fireside stories. I have provided you with the recipe to make candles to share with those you love (or are obligated by social pressures to pretend you love), so you can share in the fun. PS - Jina told me that humans used to bring trees into their homes and decorate them this time of year for the Feast of Frostide. I thought it would be a delight to kind of combine our traditions together. Make sort of a Winterlights-tide. So I have informed the villagers that by order of the mayor, if a human gives them a candle, they must also give a tree decoration in return. That's a fun thing I did, isn't it? Oh I do hope I'm doing a good job.
